WE PLAY INSTRUMENTAL SURF GARAGE ROCK 'N ROLL!
The Lava Pups are Glenn Kohlmeister on drums, Robert "Kool Kat" Kuhlmann on bass, Sue on uku-tar (guit-ulele), and Bill T on guitar. We play for fun and out of our love for surf and old school garage-style instrumental music. Our recipe for Lava Pups music starts with a traditional surf sound. Then we blended in a healthy dose of Northwest garage sensibility, added a heaping spoonful of Link Wray edginess and a pinch of punk irreverence. Combine these ingredients with not taking ourselves too serviously and having fun making music, and you have the Lava Pups! LE CRI DU COYOTE - 123-124
Bernard Boyat (reviewer and translator) “The ‘Chiots de la lave’ (Lava Pups), as their name goes, are a surf instrumental band hailing from Sacramento . . . . On their first CD, which contains self-penned tunes only, you can find, among the tracks, their influences, sometimes entangled: Dick Dale, Link Wray, Duane Eddy, the Belairs, Atlantics or Ventures, even the Shadows. They have the good taste, unlike other current surf instrumental bands, of not using distortion or synthesizer, which leads to a guitar sound as we like it, clear and precise. A pity the CD has only 8 tracks. We hope for more on the next one!” Click to See the Full Review (In French) AMAZING - U.S., THEN U.K., NOW FRANCE! _________________________ |

OUR FIRST REVIEW BY A REAL MUSIC CRITIC
Phil Dirt of Reverb Central "Paul the Pyronaut plays rhythm on this recording from one of his guitar students. . . . Given time to flesh out arrangements and become more fluid on guitar, the strong writing on these songs will evolve into excellent surf instros." "Pacifica Blue" and "Lava Tube" each received 4 stars. Click to Read the Full Review WOW! POTENTIAL. WE'RE STOKED! ___________________ |
